Spice Up Your Standard Guitar Chords With Sweet Sounding Open Strings!!

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

Hi all. Thanks to those who commented on the last lesson. I had some great feedback and it was greatly appreciated. There will be more Chord Fun coming your way so stay tuned. Actually, this lesson is also chord related…but with a twist! And the twist is…open strings. I first heard Alex Lifeson of Rush utilize open strings back in the ’80′s and suffice it to say, I just loved the open sounding quality it gave the chords he was using. Since then, I have used this concept a lot and still do to this day. It is a very effective guitar addition to your repertoire of skills and if not overdone, can add a sweet surprise to anyone’s use of chords.

Along with the video lesson, I have also included the chord shapes that are used in the video. Click to continue »

Having Fun With The C Chord – A Beginners Lesson

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

Hey all. This is the first lesson on lrguitar.com and I thought it would be a great way to break the ice by introducing to you all a cool way of using a common variety C chord in different areas on the guitar neck. As the video below demonstrates, by moving the C chord shape around the neck, you can come up with interesting sounds and textures that you might not have thought of otherwise. AND, it makes you sound cool instantly…:) So check out the video below and please leave a comment with your thoughts ’cause I’d love to hear what you have to say! Ciao for now.
